Diagonal arguments and fixed points

‎A universal schema for diagonalization was popularized by N.S‎. ‎Yanofsky (2003)‎, ‎based on a pioneering work of F.W‎. ‎Lawvere (1969)‎, ‎in which the existence of a (diagonolized-out and contradictory) object implies the existence of a fixed-point for a certain function‎. ‎It was shown that many self-referential paradoxes and diagonally proved theorems can fit in that schema‎. ‎Here‎, ‎we fi...

Fixed Points and Generalized Vector Equilibra in General Topological Spaces

In this paper, we first generalize a fixed point theorem due to Tarafdar from topological vector spaces to general topological spaces without linear structure. By using our new fixed point theorem, some new existence theorems of solutions for generalized vector equilibrium problems and generalized implicit vector variational inequality problems are proved under noncompact settings of general to...

Continuous Selections and Fixed Points of Multi-valued Mappings on Noncompact or Nonmetrizable Spaces

In this paper, we obtain several new continuous selection theorems for multi-valued mappings on completely regular spaces and fixed point theorems for multi-valued maps on nonmetrizable spaces. They, in particular, provide a partial solution of a conjecture of X. Wu.

Fixed Points and Selections of Set-valued Maps on Spaces with Convexity

We provide theorems extending both Kakutani and Browder fixed points theorems for multivalued maps on topological vector spaces, as well as some selection theorems. For this purpose we introduce convex structures more general than those of locally convex and non-locally convex topological vector spaces or generalized convexity structures due to Michael, van de Vel, and Horvath.

Fixed Points for Convex Continuous Mappings in Topological Vector Spaces

We prove the following result. Let C be a convex compact subset in a topological vector space, and T : C → C a convex continuous mapping. (See Definition 1.1.) Then T has a fixed point. Moreover, continuous mappings that can be approximated by convex continuous mappings also have the fixed point property.
